Cross-Enrollment

• The DMACHE cross-enrollment program is available only for the fall and spring semesters.
• Only full-time undergraduate students enrolled at one of the three Consortium institutions will be allowed to participate. Full-time status will be determined by the home institution. (Full-time status for undergraduates at Drake is a minimum of 12 credits in a given semester.)
• A maximum of 75 students from each home institution will be allowed to enroll at each host institution during each semester.
• Participating students will be allowed to take only one course under the program at only one of the other two institutions.
• Students must establish their eligibility to participate in the program through the registrar's office at their home institution.
• Students must meet all prerequisites for any course in which they wish to cross enroll.
• Students wishing to cross-enroll may not register as a regular student and then later request to be switched over to be considered a cross-enrolled student.
• Cross-enrolled students must abide by the start and end dates, policies, and procedures set by the host institution.
• No more than two (2) cross enrolled students, from either Drake University or Grand View University, may be enrolled in any one DMACC course section at a time. For example: 2 Drake students or 2 Grand View students or 1 Drake student and 1 Grand View student in specific section of SPC 101.
• Limit allowable classes to 3 credits or less.  For students wishing to enroll in a course that is more than 3 credits, the student will pay for the additional credits (beyond the three), plus any associated fees.

• Each institution will determine which classes will be available for cross-enrollment. A list of excluded courses will be available in each institution's registrar's office and on their cross-enrollment web pages.
• Each home institution will verify students' eligibility on a tuition waiver form. The waiver must be delivered to the host institution where the registration process will be completed.
• The academic advisor of the home institution will approve the courses to be taken through cross enrollment and will also be responsible for making certain that the student has completed all prerequisites.
• Students participating in the cross-enrollment program will obtain approval for course enrollment and prerequisites using appropriate procedures of their home institutions.
• No change to cross-enrollment (other than drops) may occur later than five business days prior to the start of the semester at the host institution.
• There will be no tuition charges for the first three (3) credits. The students will be allowed to take a three (3) credit course based on the full-time tuition they paid at their home institution. However, the student is responsible for fees associated with the course and tuition for any credits beyond three.
• Grades will be assigned according to the host institution's grading policies.
• Each host institution will generate an academic transcript of each participant and will automatically send the transcript to the home institution at the end of each term.
• Credits will be transferred back to the home institution and may be applicable toward the student's program of study. Advisors should consult with the appropriate registrar or departmental representative if transferability is questionable.
• This cross-enrollment agreement will be reviewed and renewed/revised no later than December 31 of each year for the coming academic year by the registrars of the participating institutions.

• The cross-enrollment sign-up procedure does not guarantee enrollment at DMACC. It merely validates the students' eligibility for the program.
• Cross-enrollment is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must follow the proper procedure to secure cross-enrollment status for each semester that they would like to cross-enroll.
• The rules and requirements, policies, semester start and end dates, and other deadlines set forth by DMACC might be different than those at Drake. Cross-enrolled students are responsible for knowing and complying with DMACC's policies and dates.
• To enroll in a math course at DMACC, the student must provide proof of an appropriate ALEKS math assessment score or successful completion of the prerequisite course. • All students are required to pay DMACC's technology fee. Only the tuition is covered with Cross Enrollment.
• Maximums
  
  • No more than two (2) cross-enrolled students from either Drake or Grand View may be enrolled in a single section of an eligible DMACC course.  (For example, either 2 Drake students, 2 Grand View students, or 1 Drake and 1 Grand View student in a specific CRN of SPC 101.)  If more than two Drake students wish to cross-enroll in the same section, preference will be given according to the order in which the tuition waivers were submitted.
  • No more than 75 Drake students may cross-enroll at DMACC per semester.
  • An eligible student may cross-enroll in only one course at DMACC or Grand View per semester.
  • Students may enroll in a maximum of three credits per semester at DMACC.
  • Students are responsible for tuition for all credits in excess of three.
• Cross-enrollment status will be finalized by DMACC and Drake five business days before the start of DMACC's semester. No cross-enrollment changes, other than drops, may be made after this point.

No Drake student will be allowed to cross-enroll* in any class that meets any of the following conditions:

• Any course that is 4 credits** or more, or
• Any course in which two Drake or Grand View students already are cross-enrolled (i.e. 2 Drake students, 2 Grand View students, or 1 Drake and 1 Grand View student) or
• Any subject code that appears in the table below

*Students who wish to register for these classes may still do so as a "regular" DMACC student and should contact DMACC directly to apply/register.

**Tuition for credits in excess of 3 will be the student's responsibility.

Pre-registration Planning: Students who are interested in cross-enrolling should discuss their intentions with their advisor prior to registering for their Drake classes.

• Students should ensure that the DMACC class will be applicable to their degree program.
• Students should ensure that the DMACC class is available for cross-enrollment.  Review the list of excluded classes listed above.
• Students should review DMACC's start and end dates, deadlines, and policies. They might not be the same as those at Drake.
• Cross-enrollment is not guaranteed, so students should have a back-up plan in case they cannot cross-enroll successfully.

Register for your courses at Drake: Before requesting to cross-enroll, students should register at Drake as usual. Students need to be registered full time (at least 12 hours, not including wait-listed courses) at Drake for the semester they want to cross enroll.

Submit a Cross-Enrollment Request Form: Once students are registered full-time at Drake for the semester in which they wish to cross-enroll, they should complete the online cross-enrollment request form. This request does not guarantee the student's cross-enrollment. However, it does verify the student's eligibility to be delivered to DMACC to complete the cross-enrollment process. The request form is the student's ticket to cross-enroll.

• Student's cross-enrollment request will not be reviewed until they are registered full-time at Drake for the semester in which they wish to cross-enroll.
• Students should be prepared to list the following information on the cross-enrollment request:
  • Subject
  • Course number
  • Course reference number (CRN)
• Students should be prepared to list at least one alternate choice in case their first choice is unavailable.
• DMACC publishes its own schedule of classes on its web site. When searching for a DMACC class, be sure you select the appropriate semester and check the start and end date of the class.

Be Patient

• Drake will send the completed cross-enrollment request forms to DMACC. Only requests that have provided valid subject, course number, and course reference number will be delivered.
• DMACC will attempt to register each student individually for the course listed on the request form. Forms will be processed in the order in which they were submitted to Drake.
  • If the registration is successful, DMACC will email the student further instructions, including log-in information for DMACC's student information system.
  • If the registration is not successful (due to a class that is full, for example), DMACC will email the student with notification of unsuccessful registration.
• Students whom DMACC could not accommodate may be allowed to declare an alternate choice without filing additional paperwork by contacting Office of the Registrar (registrar@yopin365.com or 271-2025) in the Office of the Registrar. Drake and DMACC cannot guarantee that registration in alternate classes will be successful.
• DMACC will continue this process until the 75-student limit is reached.
• DMACC will attempt to register cross-enrollment candidates under the registration time frame for their 'New Liberal Arts and Guest Students'.

Follow-Up: Students are responsible for establishing and maintaining a connection with DMACC.

• Students should retain their DMACC ID number, log-in information, email address, etc.
• Students are responsible for obtaining the books and materials associated with the DMACC class.
• Students are responsible for attending and participating in the DMACC class and abiding by all policies set forth by DMACC.

After final grades have been submitted, Drake and DMACC will automatically exchange official transcripts for the cross-enrolled students.

• Cross-enrolled students will not need to submit a request to have their DMACC transcript sent to Drake. DMACC will send one copy to Drake automatically.
• Students can check whether their DMACC credit has been posted to their Drake record by viewing their unofficial transcript.

• Students should ensure that the Grand View class will be acceptable toward their degree program.
• Students should ensure that the Grand View class is available for cross-enrollment. Cross-enrollment in nursing or education courses is subject to approval by the respective department.
• Students should review Grand View's semester start & end dates, deadlines, and policies. They might not be the same as those at Drake.
• Cross-enrollment is not guaranteed, so students should have a back-up plan in case they cannot cross-enroll successfully.

Registration at Drake: Before requesting to cross-enroll, students should register at Drake as usual. Students need to be registered full time (at least 12 hours, not including wait-listed courses) at Drake for the semester they want to cross enroll.

Submit a Cross-Enrollment Request Form to the Office of the Registrar: Once students are registered full-time (12 credits) at Drake for the semester in which they wish to cross-enroll, they should complete the online cross-enrollment request form. This request form does not guarantee the student's cross-enrollment, however it does verify the student's eligibility and must delivered to Grand View to complete the registration process. The request is the student's ticket to cross-enroll. Students should be prepared to list the following information on the request form:

• Subject
• Course number
• Section number of the class in which they wish to cross-enroll

Be Patient

• Drake will send the completed cross-enrollment request forms to Grand View. Only requests that have provided valid subject, course number, and course reference number will be sent.
• Grand View will attempt to register each student individually for the course listed on the request form. Forms will be processed in the order in which they were submitted to Drake.
• If the registration is successful, Grand View will email the student with further instructions. Retention of this information is strongly suggested.

Follow-Up: Students are responsible for establishing and maintaining a connection with Grand View.

• Obtain Grand View ID number, log-in information, email address, etc.
• Pay any technology or other fees at Grand View.  These fees are not covered in the tuition.
• Obtain books and materials for the Grand View class.
• Attend and participate in the Grand View class.

After final grades have been submitted, Drake and Grand View will exchange official transcripts for the cross-enrolled students.

1. Cross-enrolled students will not need to submit a request to have their Grand View transcript sent to Drake. Grand View will do this automatically.
2. Check whether your credits have been posted to your Drake record by viewing your unofficial transcript.

Submit a cross-enrollment tuition waiver request form (available at your home school's registrar's office) to your home school's registrar's office.

Your home school's registrar's office will send the completed cross enrollment application to Drake University's Office of the Registrar electronically.

We will review cross-enrollment requests using these standard registration policies:

• If the course you requested has a pre-requisite or a registration restriction, including the 100 level course or above designation, that would otherwise make you ineligible for the course, we will contact you at the email address you provided us on your tuition waiver.
• If the course you listed is full, we will try to cross-enroll you in your alternate choices, if you listed any on your waiver.
• Once cross-enrollment is approved, you would become eligible to be registered at the same time as all other non-degree-seeking students.
• There will be no tuition charges.  You will be allowed to take the course based on the full-time tuition paid at your home institution.  However, you are responsible for fees associated with the course.
• Drake now has a program called Course Ready. This program automatically charges students accounts for their books. Students books are then ready for students when classes start. Students are allowed to opt out of the program. Please review the program here.
